Wondering how to start the real estate search process?
"Where do I begin?" is a question we receive frequently at the Mackenzie Rae Team. As the Data Specialist I like to start with Budget. It's an easy way to narrow your search to properties that fit what you can afford, there's nothing more frustrating than being sent listings that you simply can't afford or you're not interested in.
Searching by budget allows you to get a wide view of all of the available real estate inventory. Perhaps your most important factor is what your commute time will be. Searching by budget can open you up to areas that you may not have considered and have similar commute times.
You will now be able to narrow your results to homes that have your "must-haves". Eliminating the properties that just don't match will help you maximize your time.
Next I recommend visiting the neighborhood and maybe doing a mock-commute from each area to help you decide.
Now that you have your budget and neighborhood it's time to refine your search. Creating an account and favoriting your top-contenders is the best way to begin. This allows you to keep track of the homes you like and be notified of any changes. It also gives your agent the opportunity to do a deep-dive into your search to find homes that meet your needs, but that you may have missed.
